Stop Talking Yourself Out of the Life You Actually Want
You fantasize about your dream life…moving abroad to discover a new life, quitting your mind-numbing job and starting your dream business or traveling the world, saying the bold things you want to say online and going viral and changing the world, becoming outgoing and vivacious, making friends and getting dates everywhere you go…
But you keep finding reasons not to go for it. And you keep finding yourself in the same old stuck places.
There's obviously more than willpower involved here. Here's what's happening under the surface:
You know you want excitement, adventure, new experiences, new people, love, more money, confidence…but then you keep pushing back the dream. On some level, you know you could do it, but you just…don't do it.
- You talk yourself out of it: telling yourself there's not enough money, your mom needs help so it's not the right time, you caught a cold so now you need to rest…
- Or let other people talk you out of it: some blogger online says it wasn't worth the effort so you shut it all down. Your family is worried, so you leave it alone rather than dealing with the conflict.
- You find out it will be harder than you expected: you'll have to train harder, learn new skills, sacrifice something, be alone.
- People don't understand: your friends or followers keep asking why, people are judging you, you know people are looking at you funny.
- You can't quit imagining worst case scenarios: running out of money, getting hurt, everyone abandoning you, dying alone…
Essentially, your subconscious mind is working hard to keep you in your comfort zone. It's blocking you from moving forward, because you haven't re-programmed it out of old patterns and into a new reality.
I hate seeing you miss out on incredible experiences
Because I am a very adventurous, courageous woman who's done a lot of brave things, the biggest one being my journey driving my car from Serbia to Vietnam,
I got sick of hearing all these people go, "I could NEVER do that!"
Or, "If I had [more money, no kids, more time, etc.] I would do it too!"
So instead of trying to persuade people that I'm not some superhero who got bitten by a lucky spider, I wrote a book. I thought back on my most courageous, out-there adventures, and walked through every single mental process I go through to overcome my fears.
Because yes, I do have fears. I just don't let them stop me from what I want.
And I have really good techniques to overcome them, because I am an NLP coach and a hypnotist!
