Hypnosis for Anxiety: Simple Techniques That Actually Work

It sucks to not be able to do things because of anxiety.

It fucking blows to look forward to something you really want, and then have the experience ruined because you’re so stressed out that you can’t even really enjoy it.

I was digging through some Reddit threads before I started writing this, and one woman was looking into hypnosis for anxiety because she said, “I’m a ball of anxiety and it’s ruining my relationship and I need this to work. I’m willing to try anything.”

And man, I feel that.

I don’t want to go into too many details because I don’t want to dig into people’s triggers as they’re reading this, but anxiety has fucked up a lot of situations in my life too.

Of course, relationships. Losing someone I really loved because of Anxious Attachment and not understanding why. Lashing out at someone I liked because I was anxious and couldn’t help it. (I remember one particular cycling trip with a summer romance several years ago. I got a panic attack and ended up throwing my back down in the sand and refusing to go any further. It was not cute.)

Also social things. Particularly networking events, where I traveled all the way, wanting to get some new clients and meet likeminded people - and then felt SO UNCOMFORTABLE the whole time. It was like 10% connection and 90% wondering why on earth I bothered coming.

I also have a weird fear of hair salons. Every time I step into a place, it feels like everyone is beautiful and perfect, and I’m just this dumpy, awkward teenager who did her makeup wrong and takes poor care of her hair and I always seem to choose the most unflattering outfit for sitting in a chair in front of a mirror.

I live in abroad (in Serbia) so language used to be a big source of anxiety for me. Going to the grocery store in my first year in Serbia was like a devastating inner battle every single week.

There are just so many beautiful things we can experience in life, and once I learned Hypnosis I realized there’s absolutely no need to continue to be burdened with this agony.

Does hypnosis work for anxiety? My success story

Yes, with self hypnosis, I have been able to overcome my anxiety.

  • I’ve been living in Serbia for 4 years now, and I go to the grocery store all the time without any issues. :)
  • I’ve also been able to do other things that held me back - a big one was going to the gym. I used to hate the idea of people watching me work out, and now I’ve been going consistently for about 6 months.
  • I’ve been able to travel to lots of lesser-traveled, off-the-beaten path countries where local people stare at you and give you so much attention. In Afghanistan, thousands of people were constantly watching me no matter where I went. And anxiety didn’t hold me back.
  • I’ve been able to date with pretty-much secure attachment (still single, but the people I date are much more pleasant experiences than my past relationships).

So that’s why I’m sharing my top techniques that have helped me overcome anxiety to be able to enjoy the gorgeous stuff that Life puts in front of me.

And of course, I offer hypnosis sessions too - for fully customized techniques and subconscious rewiring and all that.

There Are 2 Different Types of Hypnosis You Can Use:

  1. Super-quick, super-effective Brain Hacks that dissipate anxiety, even extreme anxiety and panic attacks, right in the moment. They make you feel better instantly and help you move on with what you’re doing.
  2. Subconscious Rewiring - where you go into trance and change the patterns and habits inside your brain that cause the anxious reactions in the first place.

A Super-quick, Super-Effective Brain Hack

What happens when you get anxious: Your brain is operating on neural patterns and habits.

My hypnosis teacher Melissa Tiers describes it like a car that drives down the same road every time. Why would it change routes if this one is working perfectly well?

So your brain sees whatever trigger makes you anxious. Then it reacts the same way it always has, ever since childhood.

So you have to put a roadblock in its path, so it can’t follow that route anymore.

Roadblocks are ways to distract your brain from reacting the same way it did before, so it can turn a different direction (and have a different reaction).

It’s like sometimes when a kid gets hurt (minor thing, not really causing them pain), but they cry because they just saw a mark on their hand or they saw someone freak out about their fall.

Again, if it’s a minor thing, you can usually distract them from it, by making them laugh, or flashing a shiny object, or talking about something else - and they completely forget about the fall.

One great way to distract your brain from a trigger is by tapping with the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

You quickly tap on the top of your head (it’s an acupuncture point), while saying, “I release and let this go.”

Then you tap on 4 more acupuncture points, saying “I release and let this go” as you tap:

  • Your forehead right in between your eyebrows,
  • The outside corners of both of your eyes,
  • Under your eyes,
  • Your chest.

Then grab your left wrist with your right hand. Take a deep breath in, and exhale twice as long. This hits your Vagus nerve, which relaxes you.

Once you’ve done this, you’ve distracted your brain from its trigger by doing something else. And you’ve helped yourself physically by doing a little self acupuncture to calm your nervous system, which automatically reduces anxiety.

Subconscious Rewiring to Get Over Anxiety Longterm

First you want to get yourself into a suggestible state. We hypnotists call it a trance, but it’s essentially when you let your conscious mind step aside so you can access the unconscious

This is exactly why it’s so easy to know what you should do to have a better life or feel better, but you don't actually do it. Because your conscious (who only does what it knows, stays in its comfort zone, and tries to protect you from change) is blocking the gate to get into your subconscious - the realm of infinite possibility.

How to Do It:

It’s actually much better to try it for yourself than to read about it, so I’ve recorded a hypnosis for you below.

You can listen to it for free. It only takes 14 minutes, and you’ll have reprogrammed your subconscious: To feel calm, to trust that everything will be ok, to enjoy the moment, and be present.

As someone who has obviously struggled with anxiety in the past, I am really passionate about helping people deal with this in a way that ACTUALLY WORKS.

If you’re curious about hypnosis for anxiety, it means you’ve probably tried a lot of other things.

I’m sure you know what you should be doing.

You’ve already tried mindfulness, meditation, traditional therapy…all that.

But now you’re stuck on actually making the changes, and feeling the difference.

This is exactly what hypnosis does. I can help you change your brain, so it forms the new habits that result in finally feeling a radical difference in your life.

About Me

I'm Mia Kercher, and I'm a Hypnotist & Coach of the Unconscious Mind

I got into the world of personal development several years ago when I hit rock bottom in my life. My relationship was a disaster, and it felt like I'd tried everything you could possibly try to have a great life (travel, adventure, romance, education, art...everything) but I STILL wasn't happy.

Regular therapy for 2 years helped me, but I'd hit a wall. Things weren't really progressing, and I still didn't have a grasp on my purpose or really finding joy out of life.

Then I discovered coaching, hypnosis, and magic. These gave me tools to ACTUALLY change the things I didn't like in my life. They gave me connection to Life, to something bigger than me, and got me passionate again.

I'd love to help you find this too.
